Scrappygiraffe Kits Design Team

2007

 Meet Kathleen

Kathleen is the founder and true inspiration behind Scrappygiraffe Kits. Her diverse scrapbooking background allows her to put together classy and beautiful kits that incorporate both the latest in scrapbooking supplies and timeless staples that never go out of style. She became interested in the world of paper crafting with the birth of her son, Griffin, and has since evolved from strictly scrapbooking to various more artistic forms of the craft, such as altering, mini-albums, and home decor. She lives on Long Island with her son and two extremely large dogs, Daisy and Zane.

  Meet Jessica

Jessica is a busy working mom of three gorgeous kids, who has been married to her husband Roy for the last 10 years, they live in beautiful Gresham, Oregon. She has been scrapbooking for the previous 8 years, back when scrapbooking wasn’t yet a household name. Most days she can be found sitting at her scrap table, or online enjoying many online communities and message boards. She has made incredible friends through this hobby, and plans to make even more this next year.

Besides scrapping, Jessica enjoys riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle, photography, vacationing in Las Vegas and running her kids around to various activities. Her favorite color is red, and her favorite foods are mashed potatoes and any form of pasta! She is also a huge talker, and can be counted on for posting daily on the SGK message board. Although she has many online friends she prefers to scrap at home, by herself with all her goodies surrounding her (she says it’s because she can stare at a blank page for days before anything actually goes on it!).

Her very favorite adhesive is liquid Tombo and good ole’ glue stick, with glue dots running a close second. Her favorite technique is inking, or adding bling to her pages, although she is trying her hand at doodling, and hopes to improve upon that this year. You can find examples of her work at her SGK gallery. Jessica has been published in online magazines and serves on several club Design Teams.

  Meet Stephanie

Stephanie currently resides in Hampton, Virginia, with her husband and three children. She attended Austin Peay State University in Tennessee, majoring in Business.

Stephanie is a professional merchandiser and floral designer with ten years experience in the design field. She especially enjoys reading, macro-photography, bird watching and gardening.

After the birth of her third child, Stephanie received a scrapbooking kit as a gift and has been hooked on the art and community it builds among women ever since. Her favorite adhesives are Zip Dry Glue and Glue Dots and her favorite technique is aging/distressing with inks and paints.

  Meet Kristi

Kristi is a Navy wife of almost 10 years. She and her husband, Dennis met in Mississippi where she is from and have since had four children - ages 3, 6, 7 and 9. They have three girls and a boy.

Kristi considers herself lucky to be able to stay home with them as a stay-at-home mom and being home all day with her children is why she decided to start scrapbooking. Having a hobby that keeps her busy and a way to unleash her creative outlet helps her be a more relaxed mom. Kristi likes a really full page with a lot to look at, but will occasionally throw in a rather simple page. She enjoys working on pages for her children's albums, but also for her Book of Me. Working on her own Book of Me has been a voyage into learning more about herself.

Currently, they are stationed in Fernley, NV, but are soon leaving for Bremerton, WA, and have also been stationed in San Diego, Yokosuka, Japan, and Pensacola, FL.

Kristi is also a Design Team member at Kat's Stamping and Scrapbooking.

 Meet Cathy

Cathy is very excited to be a part of this talented team of artists here at Scrappy Giraffe. She very proudly hails from Manitoba, Canada, where she lives with her husband of 14 years, their 3 children: Mica (8 1/2), Cale (7) and Egan (5), and Bean (a basset/beagle cross puppy). Cathy is a stay-at-home-Mom who babysits in her home to allow her more freedom and time with her family.

She began scrapbooking and card-making about 3 years ago because she wanted preserve the memories of her family and not just have a photo album full of pictures that didn't say anything. Considering she's loved all-things-paper since elementary school it shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise that it took about 1/2 hour for her to fall in love with this craft. She tries to spend some time each and every day in her scraproom - even if it's just a few minutes and finds that staying active there helps her stay creative and happy in other areas of her life as well.

Some of Cathy's work has appeared, or will appear in such magazines as: Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, CARDS, Simple Scrapbooks, PaperART, PaperWorks, Scrapbooking & Beyond, Scrap & Stamp Arts, Scrapbook Answers, Canadian Scrapbooker, Scrapbook Memories (Australia) and Scrapbook Magazine (UK) as well as some idea books by ST and Cantata Books. She also teaches card-making classes at her local Scrapbook Store and will be teaching a mini-book class at Manatoba's annual Scrapbook Convention (this year a charity event for Children's Hospitals).

Cathy's adhesive of choice is currently Scrapbook Adhesive (the strips in the red container) and glue dots for non-paper items and there is very little in her scrapbook room that escapes either ink distressing or sandpaper. One of her passions is using found items in her scrapbooks (from jewelry to clothing tags to office supplies) and she has a self-proclaimed weakness for all ribbons and patterned papers. She is most comfortable with a cup of coffee (heavily laced with hazelnut creamer) steaming beside her and a friend or two across the table with paper, adhesive and ink flying in every direction.

  Meet Molly

Molly has cropped for most her life, long before she owned a traditional scrapbook. Nostalgic to a fault, she has stories for all her things, especially photos, and this hobby has been her passion for over a dozen years.

This loquacious scrapper enjoys crops with friends and attends crop weekend getaways in her spare time. She is a full time wife to a devoted husband and a mother to two daughters and a son ranging in age from five to fourteen.

Molly Stevenson credits the hobby with providing the opportunity to meet other creative women with whom she has formed a deep bond. She often says of the scrapbooking subculture: “Scrapbooks take time and require effort. By default, this usually means that scrapbookers are inclined to be nurturing and considerate by nature. Playing with papers and glue with like-minded girlfriends. What could be better?”

Beautiful weighty papers, Kokuyo permanent adhesive as well as the written word are, after the wonderful people she works and plays with, the root of Molly’s passion for scrapbooking media. Molly's favorite aspect of the SGK collection is how the collections are so well coordinated without being boring. he relishes this opportunity, her first experience as a design team member. and looks forward to getting to know the members of the SGK message board community.

 Meet Leah

Leah is married to the love of her life, Doug. They married in 2002 and have been together 11 years. Currently residing in Roanoke, Virginia, Leah is the mother to 3 gorgeous children. She used to deliver newspapers and gave that up to stay home to raise her children full time. After the birth of her son in February 2006, she found scrapbooking and has been hooked ever since! She struggles with keeping her house clean chasing two little ones around, and has decided that creating layouts is much more important than a spotless house!

Leah loves hanging out on message boards chatting it up with her friends. Her family lovingly refers to her as being silly, funny, loving, caring, and a tad bit crazy. She loves relaxing at night with her hubby while watching TV shows such as Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Medium, and Shark to name a few. Her favorite scrapping technique is ever changing, right now it is inking and her favorite adhesive is Duck. What she loves most about scrapping is the story it tells. Leah doesn’t want to forget a thing so she records some interesting topics, nothing is too bizarre!

 Meet Pamela

Pamela is a 39-year-old--red-headed, opinionated, truly moody, mothering, creative, purple-loving, jack-of-all-trades--Cancerian. She has been a process oriented artisan all her life, was a graphic designer and illustrator for 5 years, and has been working as a full-time high school art teacher for 7 years now. Also, the mother to one gorgeous and creative little girl named Josie, step-mother to two beautiful and intelligent young women named Nina and Lucia, and wife to one passionate, poetic Leo named James, she often finds herself wishing for more hours in the day-- hours to create more art, play with her daughter, and cuddle with her husband.

Pam is a scrapbooker because it is a very satisfying and challenging way to combine the many art forms she loves--photography, paper arts, stitching, painting, stamping, mixed media, and design--allowing her to make the best use of every "free" minute she has, and to chip away at her huge collection of beloved products and supplies. Because she has both formal and informal art training, Pam is always up for a new experience using a myriad of materials and techniques. Believing everyone has innate creativity, this natural "teacher" adores finding new ways to use old tools and media, and showing others how to "play and embrace their mistakes", so they can "discover their voice".

Hard pressed to decide on her favorite products, tools, and supplies, Pam finally admitted she couldn't live without her Tombo tape runner, Scotch Tacky glue, endless collection of chipboard, acrylic paints and inks, foam and acrylic stamps, Bazzill cardstock, sewing machine, punches, and abundant ribbons and flosses.

Pam's enthusiastic anticipation, for receiving her first Srappygiraffe Kit, is matched only by the complete acceptance she has experienced, from the incredibly awesome community of talented and supportive art goddesses she has become friends with here at SGK! Considering herself to be truly blessed and 100% honored to be a part of the SGK community, Pam knows that each and every new day at SGK is an undeniable INSPIRATION to be savored, by one and all!

  Meet Sonia

Sonia is a 42 year old mother to Amanda and wife to Scott. She’s a transplanted Long Islander living in New Jersey, and she’ll get used to that any day now (native new Yorkers just don’t DO New Jersey…). She has a Masters in Social Psychology from Rutgers, which she parlayed in to a successful marketing research consulting career spanning about 20 years. Now she’s a stay at home mom, and busier than ever, schlepping Miss Amanda to her various and sundry activities.

Sonia is an avid sports fan – OK…she’s certifiable. Her love for the New York Yankees (and requisite hate of the Boston Red Sox) is rather legendary. She participates in fantasy football leagues…and occasionally wins, much to the chagrin of her male league mates. She also enjoys skiing and golf. However, her love of sports is a distant second to her love of scrapbooking.

She started scrapbooking in May 2000 at a Creative Memories home party. She was hooked, even though at the time patterned paper was virtually non-existent. In just a short time she began teaching scrapbooking at her local scrapbook store, for Memories Expo and for Dream Events (the SDV people). Her favorite part about teaching, besides when people ACTUALLY showed up for class, was being able to share all the fun new things she discovered or learned along the way. Her classes tend to be VERY technique heavy, taking seemingly advanced scrapbook and general craft techniques and making them easy and available to the masses.

Her favorite scrapbook supplies are cardstock (because you can do ANYTHING to it), spray paint (any paint for that matter) and Glue Dots. She would seriously die without her X-acto knife and don’t even think of taking her see-through quilting ruler. And she has a seriously unhealthy attachment to Ranger products, especially her Melting Pot.

Sonia has been published in Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Ivy Cottage, and several books from Krylon and Cantata Books. She is also on the FiberScraps Design team.
